The Camp That Wouldn’t Reopen
For nearly two decades, every attempt to revive the camp is undone by fires, fouled water, and “bad luck.” Pamela has been keeping her son’s grave quietly, terribly, tended.
- 1980
Crazy Ralph, the Harbinger
A wild-eyed local named Ralph appears to warn the new counselors that the camp has a death curse and that they are all doomed. He is dismissed as the town crank — and he is completely right.

Mrs. Voorhees
When the camp finally reopens, Pamela takes her revenge on a new generation of counselors — until the lone survivor, Alice, beheads her on the shore. Unseen in the reeds, a grown Jason watches his mother die.
- 1981
The Son Emerges
Jason — alive all along — avenges his mother, first hunting down Alice and then a new training camp nearby. In the woods he keeps a shrine to Pamela, her severed head its centerpiece. He hides his face behind a burlap sack.
- 1981
The Mother’s Sweater
Cornered at his woodland shrine, Jason is stopped cold when the survivor pulls on Pamela’s old sweater and speaks as his mother. For a moment the monster obeys — proof that his devotion to her runs deep enough to be turned against him.

The Mask
At Higgins Haven, Jason takes a white hockey mask from a prankster named Shelly. The image that will outlive every actor who wears it is born here.
- 1984
The “Final” Chapter
A young Tommy Jarvis, obsessed with horror makeup, manages to do what shotguns and machetes could not — he kills Jason. It should have ended here. It does not.
- 1985
The Copycat
Years later, a traumatized, institutionalized Tommy arrives at a halfway house as a masked killer begins murdering its residents. The killer turns out to be a grief-maddened impostor — but the legend now has a life of its own.
- 1986
Resurrected by Lightning
Trying to confirm Jason is truly dead, Tommy digs up the grave — and a lightning strike on a metal rod jolts the corpse back to life. From this night on, Jason is undead, unstoppable by ordinary means, and is chained beneath the lake.
- 1988
The Mind vs. the Monster
A telekinetic young woman named Tina, mourning her father, unknowingly frees the chained Jason — and then becomes the first opponent able to fight him with more than a blade.
- 1989
Jason Takes Manhattan
Roused yet again, Jason follows a graduating class onto a cruise ship bound for New York and stalks them into the city itself, before the rising tide of toxic sewage finally undoes him.
- 1993
Body and Soul
Blown apart by the FBI, Jason’s evil survives as a parasite that leaps from host to host, hunting his surviving bloodline — the only family that can give him a new body or end him with the ancestral dagger. In the end, the ground opens and Freddy Krueger’s glove drags the mask down.
- The 25th Century
Frozen, Then the Future
Cryogenically frozen after a failed containment, Jason is thawed centuries later by scavengers aboard a spaceship. The future’s technology rebuilds him into the cyborg “Uber Jason.”
- Years Later
Freddy’s Gambit
In a separate strand of the legend, the dream-demon Freddy Krueger resurrects Jason to spread fear through Springwood — then cannot control him. The two horror icons wage war across nightmares and the old shores of Crystal Lake.

A Different Telling
The 2009 film retells the origin from scratch in its own continuity: an older, faster Jason who rigs the woods with traps and guards the lake against all who wander in.
